Wire butterflies and dragonfly workshop (full day course)
Create your own decorative wire insect inspired by butterflies, moths or dragonflies that you could hang on the wall or sit on a shelf or your mantelpiece.
Judith will show you how to use various wire techniques and embellish with glass beads to create your own unique insect. A choice of templates will be provided or you can design your own insect with Judith’s guidance. You can take inspiration from real butterflies or dragonflies, or you can use your imagination for your colour palettes and shapes. Judith’sexamples shown here have their foundation in observation, but have developed in their own unique way, which is part of the joy of making and exploring techniques. To give you an idea of size, Judith’s examples range from about 10-14cm in width. You will come away with one completed insect after the workshop.
All materials are included and there will be a variety of coloured beads and wires for you to choose from. The insect bases can be made with silver plated or copper wire, the copper wire can also be oxidised to create a dark grey colour as you can see in the dragonfly in the pictures.
You don’t need any experience of working with wire to enjoy this workshop. Full tuition and demonstrations will be given to guide you through the making process. All materials and use of tools are included.
If you usually wear glasses for reading or making please bring these along with you.
